Aims Netball Fundraiser Weekend

A perfect Saturday morning for spring cleaning. 12 girls form K.I.S met at Amber Tunui’s house who had won 1st prize in the Aims Netball Spring clean Fundraiser. This was an awesome bonding experience for the team and a way to give back to the community.

Amber was very happy with the transformation of her yard. “It looks like a whole different yard” she commented. The girls weeded, mowed and removed objects that lay around the yard. It was a fun day for all who participated.

Sunday afternoon Aims Netball Team met at Kawerau Intermediate cooking room. They  prepared a three course dinner for Shar Cotter who had won the 2nd Prize in the Fundraiser. In small groups the girls prepared pumpkin, potato and ham soup with garlic bread as the entree. Roast chicken with potato, kumara, carrots, gravy and stuffing for the main. Desert was Chocolate cake and moose. Concluded with chocolate muffins and coffee for supper. The feedback was excellent! Everything was cooked to perfection!

Well done girls for an awesome weekend. We will meet again next weekend to clean Jason Tuhoro’s Cars, our 3rd prize winner.

WINTER TOURNAMENT-SOCCER REPORT

Last Friday, I participated in the BOP/Poverty Bay Intermediate Soccer Tournament.  I was the captain of the KIS Soccer Team.  I enjoyed the tournament and I think our Soccer Team played really well.  The game that stood out the most was the game against Whakatane Intermediate.  I know most of the players in that team (some are Rep players) and we were able to keep them at 1-1 for nearly the whole game.  Our defense was brilliant.  Especially, Cole as our goalie.  He did some wicked saves!  Well done to my team mates, you all played superbly.

Special thanks to Whaea Sheree and Mrs Carolyn Ion for taking us on the day.  We appreciated your support.

Well done KIS Soccer Team 2011  by Sam Wensor  (Published by Whaea Hunia)
